Evacuation Plan 2012
The Waikato CDEM Group has developed a five year plan to support a coordinated evacuation response into, out of and within the region.
National exercises in 2008 and 2010 highlighted the critical role the Waikato region is likely to play in receiving evacuees from neighbouring regions in events such as a volcanic eruption or tsunami. The evacuation plan was developed in recognition of the wide range of hazards within the Waikato, as well as those in our neighbouring regions.
This plan is not intended as a document to guide the general public. It aims to provide a coordination framework for the key agencies involved in the evacuation and shelter phase of an emergency.
